Eyeglasses

When it comes to choosing new eyeglasses, one style doesn’t fit all. Center For Sight’s licensed, board certified opticians work directly with your optometric physician to ensure a customized prescription suited for your individual needs.

After 40, our eyes gradually lose the ability to focus up close – a condition known as presbyopia. The best way to regain the most accurate and natural vision is with progressive lenses. Progressives allow you to see in all fields of vision – far away, mid-range and up close, with no hard divisions in the lens (as in bifocals). Center For Sight offers the Varilux® line of progressive lenses from Essilor, the leader in progressive lens science since they developed the first pair in 1959. We are the only office in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties to offer the iZon® High Resolution Lenses by Opthonix.

With Varilux Physio, Varilux brings the corrective power of wavefront, similar to the technology used in laser surgery, to progressive lenses. Sharp vision has two key components:  Visual acuity and contrast sensitivity.    By dramatically reducing or eliminating higher order aberrations, Varilux Physio delivers an improvement in contrast sensitivity—the ability to see visual details and colors--by up to 30%.  Varilux Physio is the only lens proven to increase contrast sensitivity in all fields of vision. The result is an advanced general-purpose lens that delivers unsurpassed progressive performance to all presbyopes.

Varilux Ipseo is a personalized lens that is individually tailored to the wearer’s own visual behavior and needs—providing them an easier transition into progressive wear. Varilux Ipseo is designed to adapt to the specific head and eye movements of the individual wearer for optimal visual performance. This lens has the wearer’s initials discreetly engraved on each lens. Varilux Ipseo meets the unique needs of each and every patient and is ideal for those who demand the ultimate in vision correction. It is now enhanced with W.A.V.E. Technology™.

iZon® High Resolution Lenses are the only spectacle lenses that are customized based on a patient's unique optical fingerprint, or iPrint™ and are driven by the wavefront measurement of the eye itself. This transformational new vision correction solution was designed by Ophthonix specifically for dispensing practitioners. It incorporates three fully integrated wavefront technologies from refraction through lens manufacturing. The result is a superior lens delivering High-Definition vision day and night.

AR (anti-reflective) is an extremely important addition to your lenses. Center For Sight offers Crizal, the #1 brand for eye care professionals. Crizal Avancé with Scotchgard Protector lenses repel stains, dirt and smudges better than any other, making them the easiest to clean.  And, while many AR lenses offer an easy-to-clean surface when new, the effectiveness of this feature deteriorates over time, leaving the lenses difficult to clean.  Independent lab tests prove Crizal Avancé with Scotchgard Protector lenses start out the easiest to clean and stay that way over the life of the prescription.  Plus, with 100% patient satisfaction, all Crizal lenses have a lifetime warranty (i.e. lifetime of the prescription).

Sunglasses

Did you know that UV radiation is associated with the development of cataracts and can also damage the retina? Your eyes should always be shielded from the sun’s harmful rays by wearing sunglasses. Center For Sight offers a wide variety of options for sunglasses, including polarized lenses, Transitions and Drivewear.

Polarized lenses block blinding glare and greatly enhance visual acuity, color contrast and comfort. No other lens treatment can perform this function. Polarization eases eye stress and fatigue in the sun. It is available in several colors and density options and can be combined with Transitions photochromic lenses.

Photochromic lenses (commonly referred to as the brand name, Transitions) darken and lighten according to light exposure. Recent advances in Transitions technology allow Transitions lenses to respond to the sun’s UV light faster and better than before. Transitions lenses are so clear indoors, that most people cannot tell them apart from regular lenses. They are available in a wide range of prescriptions, including progressives and even complex or uncommon prescriptions. They are available in plastic or polycarbonate and can be grey or brown.

Drivewear lenses are capable of sensing and reacting to varying light conditions both outside and behind the windshield of the car. From bright sunlight accompanied by intense, blinding glare, to overcast inclement conditions, these lenses provide the wearer with the appropriate visual solution. Drivewear lenses provide glare protection through polarization and enhance and protect vision through photochromics which respond to both visible and UV light. They are available in a range of prescriptions, including progressives, as well as in plastic or polycarbonate.

Center For Sight’s Optical Department offers a wide selection of frames, including many popular designer labels. The opticians will help you select the best frame/lens combination to enhance your appearance and fit your lifestyle.
