The Center For Sight's ambulatory surgery center opened in January 2001. This state-of-the-art facility is staffed by ophthalmic and facial cosmetic surgeons, as well as RNs that are licensed in the state of Florida and have basic life support (BLS) and acute cardiac life safety (ACLS) certifications.

The surgery center is licensed by the state of Florida (AHCA) and is also AAAHC accredited. The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care is the preeminent leader in developing standards to advance and promote patient safety, quality and value for ambulatory health care through peer-based accreditation processes, education and research. Accreditation is ultimately awarded to organizations that are found to be in compliance with the Accreditation Association standards.

The AAAHC Accreditation means that the Center For Sight has passed a series of rigorous and nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by the AAAHC. Organizations seeking this accreditation are required to undergo an extensive on-site, peer-based survey of their facilities and services. Not all ambulatory health care organizations seek this accreditation and not all seeking the accreditation are granted it; however Center For Sight's commitment to the highest quality patient care is evidenced by their drive to pursue this status.

The surgery center consists of three operating rooms used to perform cataract surgery, glaucoma, retina and macular degeneration surgery. The surgery center also has a laser suite, which is comprised of the YAG laser, the IntraLase Laser and the ALLEGRETTO WAVE Laser.

Additionally, Center For Sight's Surgery Center has gone through the process to become Medicare certified. The center is tightly controlled and is run by allowing ONLY Center For Sight physicians to perform surgeries in our facility. Anesthesia is provided on-site by full-time, board certified CRNAs, with CRNAs always being present.

The Center For Sight surgery center provides unique services to provide maximum convenience for our patients. Free transportation from courteous drivers is provided to surgery patients from the patient's home to the surgery center and back home again. The surgery center provides patients pre-operative and post-operative testing necessary in just one location and patients are provided one single bill which includes all facets of their surgery.
