SARASOTA, Fla. (May 31, 2023) – Center For Sight is proud to announce Dr. Brittany Coyle as the incoming resident for the 2023-24 Residency in Ocular Disease, a program sponsored by Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry and accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ASCO).
Dr. Coyle graduated from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina and went on to attend Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, Gold Key Honor Society, and is graduating with clinical honors in internal and external rotations. Dr. Coyle is originally from South Carolina, and brings southern hospitality, affinity for patient care and an eagerness to serve the patients of Southwest Florida.
“I feel honored to have been matched with the Residency at Center For Sight and am excited to learn from the brightest minds in eye care. Center For Sight offers the most advanced diagnostic technology, combined with a fast paced, high-volume environment. I look forward to applying my coursework in the clinic,” said Coyle.
The Residency in Ocular Disease with an emphasis in Cornea and Contact Lenses is the first optometric residency program in Sarasota, designed to offer emerging eye care providers the opportunity to learn from the top optometrists and ophthalmologists in the country.
The clinical curriculum includes direct patient care, the observation of care provided by specialized physicians, urgent care of patients, surgical observation, post-operative care of patients and contact lens fittings. Prior to joining Center For Sight, Vollmer spent 16 years as a clinical professor at Nova Southeastern University.
“I am incredibly proud of the residency program and the national recognition it has received since 2021. We have thoughtfully developed a comprehensive, highly competitive residency opportunity that offers real-world, hands-on experiences for our graduates. We strive to be regarded as one of the top programs in the nation and we are well on our way to achieving that goal,” commented Vollmer.
